Door Murals

I haven't blogged anything recently which is a shame, but I'm trying to settle into my new Art exam project for school along with revising for all my math exams for the summer but I shall try to update this regularly with ideas and development for the exam title Inside, Outside, Inbetween. Note how I say "try to update".

At the moment, I've been looking into the idea of scenes through doorways and windows and after finding this company that paint door murals, I wanted to draw a few in oil pastel with Van Gogh paintings behind them.

Pomegranates Still Life Composition Finished

I finished the mock exam yesterday, and so I completed my final piece for my coursework. The picture isn't fab quality, so apologies.

For my final piece at school, going along the concept of moving still life, I took a photoshoot with a planned composition, using techniques from the previous photoshoots and influenced by inspired artists: Ori Gersht and Salvador Dali.

Today is the first day of the mock exam and over the course of the next 3 days, my class is completing their final pieces for coursework in controlled conditions (a mock exam). Below is what I completed over the first day. Still in progress, obviously.

Apples

I set up a bowl of  apples in my room, playing around with compositions and along with angles and sketched them out in ink. I hadn't really drawn with ink before so that was quite fun. 

Then I attempted to set up an arrangement with a cloth and paint it in oils. I haven't done many paintings from life before so it's not the best, but it was rather fun to do. I like the distortions of the apples within the glass bowl. However, I need to work on my drawing skills. The apples are not right, and the shapes and proportions aren't accurate either.

Teapot and Teabags

Last night, to continue on with my A2 Art Coursework ideas, I produced another photoshoot, this time using a teapot and teabags. 

Photoshoot Set-up

I think practically this photoshoot was the easiest to set up, because I had some idea/experience as to what I'm doing now, but I found arranging the teapot very time consuming and difficult to get into my preferred position. The teabags, however, were extremely easy to do and I was able to hang them simply in any position I liked. The only thing against the tea bags is that they are pretty boring in comparison to the other, more colourful objects such as the pomegranate seeds or apples I used previously.

I don't think as a whole it was that great a photoshoot, but I suppose it was just experimental so it doesn't really need to be perfect.
