Pomegranate Suspended

Set up of Photoshoot

As part of my A2 Art coursework, I've being looking at the idea of suspension in terms of still life, capturing the essence of motion in time. So after having experimented with Jenga blocks and Apples, I chose to go experiment with a pomegranate. I wanted to somehow capture the motion as a still piece rather than a video like Ori Gersht's Pomegranate similarly to how NAM, a graphic design group, present their work.

After the last experiment with the fruit bowl, I decided to have a go with dark thread rather than the nylon thread but it gives the fruit that much more effect, though in the pictures I took, the thread is still fairly visible to the eye, but much less so than nylon thread.

The main issue I had with the pomegranate was that it's incredibly sticky to work with. The colour of the pomegranate, I noticed, also became pink fairly quickly so if I were to do this again, I would have to be careful with timing. And the last main issue was that the thread broke through the seeds easily so I had to replace them every so often.
