Floating Still Life Experiment

Carrying on with my A2 Art project, I chose to do a tiny experiment based on the concept of a moving still life inspired by Dali's Nature Morte Vivante (see previous post).

Having previously experimented to see what I could do with Jenga pieces and  sewing thread:

I decided that the way forward would be to use a less complicated setting and perhaps less string. But, I liked the shadows behind the blocks and so I wanted to insert that into my next experiment.

Salvador Dali's Nature Morte Vivante
Looking at a small part of Dali's painting, I wanted to experiment with the whole concept of a moving still life and see if I could bring his use of apples and fruit bowls to life. So using two apples and a fruit bowl along with nylon thread and simple black sewing thread I tried to have a go and see what I could achieve:

I think the black thread looks a lot better against the black background, but I couldn't use it for the fruit bowl because the fruit bowl is too heavy. So I think to improve I could either go searching for some black nylon thread, or I could use a white background to hide the nylon thread (but I quite like the black because it gives a more classier feel), or i use nylon thread for the entire arrangement  showing the set up of the piece on purpose.

But never the less. It was simply an experiment and I'll probably end up taking it further and playing about with other objects in different compositions.
