Still life sketches

For a while now we've had a range of silver jugs sitting around and today I decided to do an experiment with chalks and pastels and create a form of still life.

I wanted to have a go at drawing two jugs from eye to see how capable I was at getting size and perspective right so I used chalk, because I'm a massive fan of chalk and charcoal, plus chalk works well for me since I find it easier to draw with.

I've noticed in the past that I work with a lot of rough lines, and it takes quite a while for me to get the perfect shapes, but in truth, I rather like the rough, draft-like look of it.

Chalk Drawing
After playing about with the sketching, I wanted to put in some form of colour, so for anything I felt reflected a lot of light I used a yellow pastel, and for the much darker areas I used a dark green. They're not perfect tones and representation of shadows and light, but it just gives a small reference to light on the jugs which I felt livened it up just a little.
